LAHORE: Chinese Consul General Peng Zhengwu said that China always aims to encourage social and medical cooperation between China and Pakistan, the Chinese consulate in Lahore is doing its utmost to ensure health facilities for deserving hospitals in the capital provincial with a passion for fraternity and affability.

He made the remarks on the occasion of the inauguration of the modernization of the neonatology unit and the central oxygen system at Lady Aitchison Hospital carried out by a special Chinese grant in collaboration with the Institute of International Relations. and Media Research (IIRMR) here on Friday.

IIRMR President M Mehdi, Lady Aitchison Hospital MS Dr M Iqbal Shahid and Head of Neonatology Department Alia Batool were also present on the occasion. The acting Chinese Consul General said, “It is an honor for me to do something for the hospital and I hope the project will be remembered as a gesture of friendship between China and Pakistan.” He said: “It is an exchange of love between our people and based on mutual trust and respect. Our friendship has proven itself and will continue in the future. Under CPEC, more and more projects will benefit local society. All of this will solidify our all-weather strategic cooperative partnership relations. IIRMR Chairman Muhammad Mehdi said the role of the Chinese Consulate in Lahore in extending humanitarian aid and assistance, especially in the medical and health field, is highly commendable. This will help create synergy between people-to-people cooperation between China and Pakistan, he added.

Lady Aitchison MS Hospital Dr M Iqbal Shahid said the historic 150-year-old, 200-bed Lady Aitchison Hospital handles deliveries of around 1,000 babies in a month. “In this critical situation, China has donated and responded to the request for the renovation of the neonatology unit and the central oxygen system of the hospital, which will help alleviate the incidence of patient mortality. newborns,” he added.
